Greetings sports fanatics! Today the Scranton Miners and the Quakertown Blazers met for the ECCBL championship. It looked like it was going to be Scranton's tittle as the Miners jumped out to an early 5-0 lead through the first 5 innings. However, the Blazers would begin to change the momentum in their favor as they roughed up Scranton reliever Matthew Moreira for 5 runs to tie the game up. The game would remain that way until the 9th when Jackson Schollenberger from Harford Community College hit a single off Nate Dudeck that put the Blazers up 6-5!! The Blazers would add an insurance run and Malachi Duka threw a scoreless inning to seal the victory for the Blazers 7-5! The tittle was the Blazers first since 2018 and the first ever in ECCBL history. What makes the run even more remarkable is that Quakertown was in last place at the All Star break. After clinching their spot in the playoffs, the Blazers eliminated the Southside Railers and both 1 seeds in their path to the championship. Schollenberger and Alvernia's Grant Fitzgerald, who earned the win by throwing 3 shutout innings in relief, couldn't contain their excitement after the victory!!
