Lafayette American thriller

Greetings sports fanatics! Today the Lafayette Leopards played host to the American Eagles in a Patriot League semifinal game. The 1st half was all Leopards, as they held the Eagles to 23% shooting and held a 33-17 advantage at half. In the 2nd half, it looked bleak for the Eagles as the Leopards held a 20 point lead with 10 mintues left in the game. However, Jason Knotek hit 4 straight 3 pointers and the Eagles rallied to tie the game. The Eagles had one last shot to pull out the victory, but Justin Vander Baan blocked Rogers shot and the game went to overtime. The Eagles took the lead with 3 mintues left when Matt Rogers hit a 3 to put the Eagles up top 62-59. The Eagles had a chance to close the game up 3 with 14 seconds left, but Elijah Stevens missed the front end of a one and one. The Leopards drove the ball up the court, and TJ Berger passed the ball to Leo O'Boyle. O'Boyle hit a 3 to tie the game. American had a chance to win the game with 2.9 seconds, but Rogers 3 point attempt hit the rim and the game went to double overtime. O Boyle made the play of the game when he made 4 point play , a 3 and a free throw after getting found on the shot, with 2:35 left in the game. The Eagles couldn't recover and the Leopards advanced to the Patriot League final 84-76! Both players stated after the game it felt good to win the game despite blowing a 20 point lead.
