Lafayette wins home opener

Greetings sports fanatics! Today the Lafayette Leopards had their home opener against the Columbia Lions. After a stalemate in the first quarter, the Lions got on the board in the second quarter with a field goal. The Leopards countered on the following possession with a 4 yard touchdown run by Jamar Curtis. With 4 mintues left, Dean DeNobile snuck the ball in from the 1 yard line to give Lafayette a comfortable 14-3 lead at half. In the 3rd quarter, Curtis scored his second touchdown from 22 yards out to extend the Leopards lead to 21-3. Lafayette would kick a field goal in the 4th quarter to wrap the scoring up and gave the Leopards a 24-3 victory! The Leopards defense, led by Marco Olivas, held the high powered Lions offense to only 159 yards and 2-11 on 3rd down conversions. Olivas, who had 7 tackles and 1.5 sacks, stated everyone played extremely hard today!
