Greetings sports fanatics! Today the NCC Spartans played host to the Montgomery Mustangs in a doubleheader. NCC took game one 7-4 thanks to a 4 run 1st inning. After a scoreless 1st inning from both teams, the Spartans began to take control. NCC plated 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd thanks to a solo HR by Gabe Caso, a RBI single by Jeff Sabater and a 2 RBI double by Brandon Ratti. NCC added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd when Steve McMillian hit an RBI double and scored on a single by Caso to make it 6-0 Spartans.
The Mustangs to answer with 2 runs in the top of the 4th to cut the deficit in half. An error by the Mustangs in the bottom of the 4th gave the Spartans the first run of the frame. With 2 on, Josh Herman hit a 3 run HR to right field. Shane Fillman hit a RBI single with the bases loaded to cap a 5 run 4th to make it 11-2 Spartans. The Mustangs had back to back RBI with two outs off Spartan starter Tyler Sharayko and threatened with the bases loaded. Sharayko would get out of the jam by getting the next batter to ground out to 1st and preserved a 11-4 Spartans lead.
The Spartans would torch Montgomery's reliever in the 5th for 7 runs to give NCC a comfortable 18-4 lead. The Mustangs tried to rally with a 5 run 6th inning, but it was too little too late as the Spartans won 18-9!
Sharayko earned the win in game 2 by going 5 innings, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) and striking out 4. Sharayko stated after the game it felt good to earn the win on the teams sophomore day
